Colbert, Alexie Bid to Out-Sell Amazon
Recently, Stephen Colbert weighed in on the Amazon v. Hachette debate taking jabs at Amazon (he’s published by Hachette). But he invited everyone’s favorite Pacific Northwest writer, Sherman Alexie—who is also published by Hachette—to come on to the show and explain how this monopolistic policy is damaging to writers, especially those who are publishing their first book.
And the two hatched a plan.
Partnering with powells, Alexie and Colbert are boasting they can outsell Amazon by encouraging readers, viewers and bibliophiles alike to pick up California by Edan Lepucki, a gripping novel about of couple struggling to survive in the face of catastrophe. And they just might be able to do it.
